With over 15,000 participating visitors and a holiday-related revenue exceeding 50 million francs (or euros), the iViaggiatori area confirms its position as the main meeting point with one of the world’s wealthiest and most dynamic tourism markets.
According to Visa Europe’s “Cross Border Spending” survey, Switzerland leads Europe in number of departures: each Swiss citizen takes an average of 3 trips per year, almost double the European average of 1.63.
A result favored by high purchasing power: the average Swiss income is 1.7 times higher than the Italian one and 1.3 times higher than France and Germany. This is complemented by a record number of annual holidays, among the highest in the world.

These figures are confirmed by official statistics: every year, Swiss people make about 21.2 million overnight trips, of which 17 million are abroad. In international tourism alone, annual spending amounts to 17.5 billion euros. International travel represents 61% of the total.

Language also influences travel habits: those living in French and German-speaking Switzerland travel an average of 2.9 times per year, exceeding Ticino residents, who average 2.2.
The summer season, from May to October, is preferred for international travel (64%). 70% of Swiss tourists choose hotels for accommodation, while cars remain the most used means of transport (44%), followed by air travel for cross-border trips (41%).
The international evolution of the tourism sector remains positive, and the prospects for 2026 are favorable with an increase in foreign demand.
